The other children's room that I love, despite not being/having a child, is the one you can see above from this loft. I know this photo isn't new, I'm posting it for the sake of archiving.

I think this is the room of the second lucky child that lives in that loft. Is that a bakelite radio?

Of course I couldn't help but share this pink Smeg that has the power to make a harsh stainless steel kitchen look like raspberry cake. The rest of the loft is nice too, just not my cup of tea. You can check it out here.

These beautiful photos are for people other than me; people whose homes aren't under renovation, whose stuff aren't stuffed in boxes, covered in plastic and a thick layer of dust. I'm psyched about finally taking the step to make my apartment my own (it used to be my parents'), but it gets worse before it gets better, right? Right?? I considered taking before shots but after I took down the pictures on the walls, the soot stains were just too horrible to be documented. Even with the dust and the plastic, I'm so relieved to have given a lot of the excess stuff away. Clothes, technologically challenged computers, furniture (including my bed, which is why I'm non-sleeping on the couch right now), books (though I still own a life supply of books, most of them previously belonging to me parents and my grandfather) are now happy in their new homes and I'm enjoying the open space and have no intention to fill it back. I'm still shocked about how stuff can be accumulated over the years; this experience has really taught me the importance of spring cleaning! My laptop is jealous of the apartment and wants to start fresh too, making my life miserable in the meantime. Expect updates to be scarce.

Yer yer dökülen ve ailemin eşyaları ile dolu evimi kendime ait hale getirmek için nihayet kolları sıvadığımdan dolayı çok heyecanlıyım. Ailecek seferberlik halinde işe koyulmuş durumdayız. Önce/sonra karşılaştırması yapmak için "önce" fotoğrafları çekeyim dedim ama yatak odamın duvarındaki resimleri sökünce karşılaştığım is dikdörtgenleri (yoksa utanç kareleri mi demeliyim?) beni deklanşöre basmaktan alıkoydu. Badana boya güzel ama beni en çok rahatlatan evdeki fazla eşyayı ayıklamak, vermek, atmak oldu. Eşyalar yeni evlerinde mutlu, ben de kendi boş evimde. Bu satırları da yatağımı dahi vermiş olduğum için uyuyamadığım koltuktan yazıyorum. Pılı pırtı, mobilyalar, kitaplar (gerçi halen ömür boyu yetecek kadar kitabım var ailemden kalan), dergiler, teknolojinin gerisinde kalmış elektronikler, daha neler neler gitti. Oh be! Bahar temizliğinin anlam ve önemine bilahare değineceğim. Bu arada ev hediyesi geleneği kalksın artık, zevkime uymayan bir sürü atsan atılmaz satsan satılmaz objeyi ne yapacağımı şaşırdım. Ev hediyesiyle geleni kapıdan çevirme kararı aldım. Herkes birbirine çikolata götürsün, zira şu uğraşlar sırasında enerji ve mutluluk ihtiyacım için ne kadar çikolata yediğimi bir ben biliyorum bir Allah biliyor. 


Laptop'ım da temiz bir sayfa açmak istiyor sanırım, durumu kritik. Gözleriniz reader'larda kalmasın, post imkanlarım çok kısıtlı.

"You won't be single forever, enjoy it while you can". You all know those articles in women's magazines going on about the benefits of being single. I usually read that stuff for the pure joy of rolling my eyes and being thankful for having my boyfriend. But a while ago I stumbled upon one that actually made sense to me, not the whole thing but this: it said that we should get the femininely decorating desire out of our system before we started living with a man. It makes total sense as when I go to Ikea with my boyfriend and the only things we both like are cutting boards..!

So, all these got me thinking of how I can satisfy my needs of frou-frou without making my apartment look like Bridget's room in the Playboy Mansion. Thankfully, Flickr is blessed with women of superior decorating skills, so here are some picks.

Genelde bunları yazıların saçmalığıyla kendimi eğlendirmek ve sevgilim var diye Allah'a şükretmek için okurum.Ama bir süre önce okuduğum böyle bir yazı aklımda yer etti, hepsi değil ama şu kısmı: bir erkekle birlikte yaşamaya başlamadan önce evimizi feminen tarzda dekore etmeye doymalıymışız. Doğru! Erkek arkadaşımla didişip durmadan Ikea'da bile gezemiyorum, ortak beğendiğimiz tek şey kesme tahtaları..!

Room from So Sylvie's photostream. The blue dresser, the sofa and the throw are adorable on their own, but everything together makes this room so stylishly feminine. If you think this is the peak of So Syvie's decorating talents, you are wrong. She has a shop, "Blossom Home", and from what I can see this woman knows chic details.

Oh how happy am I to see this room. And it's not just because of the beyond-cute combination of the Amy Ruppel painting- Anthropologie armchair- heart cushion. It's because I got to discover Nicole Balch's blog, Making It Lovely. I can't wait til I finish this post and start digging deeper into her blog (apparently I've been living under a rock since I didn't know about it before). Her küçük kız gibi pembenin tüm tonlarını daima sevdim, ama artık büyümüş bir kız olarak Paris Hilton ya da Barbie'ye benzeme korkusundan doya doya pembe kullanamıyorum. Dekorasyonda kullanımı zor renklerden biri olan pembenin iç mekanda aslında ne kadar muhteşem durabileceğini gösteren örnekleri heyecanla sunuyorum:

Like every little girl, I have always loved pink. But as a grown-up girl, I sometimes hesitate to use it as much as I'd like to in fear of looking like Paris Hilton or Barbie. I think it is one of the most difficult colors to use in interior design, but here are some examples that give me back my faith for pink.



Pembe bir dokunuş için her zaman bir vazo dolusu taze çiçeğe güvenebilirsiniz. Bu resimde bayılmadığım tek bir nokta yok. You can always count on fresh flowers for a beautiful touch of pink. There is not one single thing that I do not love in this picture. Especially the lovely patterned green board over the light pink wall, and the patterned console. Look at the colors: pink, old, green, black, white, beige. Again a pink wall, this time the effect is cooled by the black in the frames and the lamp, and the cream color of the sofa and the pebbles. Ahh pebbles, you gotta love the beachhouse vibe they have got! Do I have to add that I adore this sofa? It is fabulously feminine.

This is actually a hotel room, a hotel which I came across via Apryll Annie's blog. Check out the colors of the sofa: fuchsia, light pink, green, and large fuchsia printed cushions. Even though this is an outdoor picture, I thought the harmony of black iron and the pink flowers at the background were worth showing, and could translate easily to indoors.
