This is one of the most beautiful children's rooms I have ever come across. Every detail is perfect. The cradle seen above, believe it or not, was bought from Ikea in 1972, and the family used it for all the children they had in several generations! I read somewhere that the Ikea PS Sinka cabinet (seen left) is to be discontinued. I took the news with sorrow as I've always wanted one but the relatively high price stopped me from buying it as I didn't really need it. I might regret this decision in a few years.

Bugüne dek en çok beğendiğim çocuk odalarından biri. Her detayı mükemmel. Fotoğrafta görülen beşik 1972 ylında Ikea'dan alınmış, ve birkaç jenerasyondur ailede doğan her çocukta kullanmışlar! Ayrıca yine üstte, solda görülen Ikea PS Sinka çekmeceli dolap yakında piyasadan kalkacakmış. Bu haberi elemle karşıladım çünkü çok beğendiğim, istediğim, ama pek de ihtiyacım olmadığı için nispeten yüksek olan fiyatını ödemeyi göze alamadığım bir parçaydı. Umarım birkaç seneye bu kararımdan kafamı taşlara vurmam.

Hotel-inspired bedroom looks cozy. It says in the article that the curtains are hiding a wall and giving the illusion of larger windows. The carpeted floors, which I doubt I will ever attempt, looks beautiful here.

Yatak odasını döşerken otel gibi olsun istemişler. Konforlu ve davetkar olmuş. Perdeler duvarı gizleyerek pencerelerin daha büyük olduğu ilüzyonunu yaratıyormuş. Halı kaplı yerler -ben asla böyle birşeye kalkışmayacak olsam dahi- hoş görünüyor.

These images, styled by Kelly McGuill, photogaphed by Eric Roth for Picnic Fashion put me right in the mood for a picnic...and make me miss college a bit. A huge percentage of my lunches in college consisted of sitting on the grass and sharing a sandwich with the stray dogs of the campus.

 I think my black & white phase is slowly leaving it's place to a soft colors phase. These spaces by Alexandra Angle Interior Design seem so pleasant. I love the mix of ice blue, red, and a bolder blue on a white background, seen above.

This looks like a comfy dining corner of an open plan kitchen. I can picture myself having an extended breakfast on that table with my laptop. It would also complement the binge eat/work cycle involved with having a creative job.

Burası açık bir mutfaktaki rahat yemek köşesi olsa gerek. Kendimi burada laptop'ım önümde açık uzun uzun kahvaltı ederken canlandırıyorum. Ayrıca yaratıcı mesleklerdeki tıkınıp durma/çalışma döngüsüne de hitap edeceğini düşünüyorum.

Do you like the painted headboard? I'm normally not a fan of matchy matchy, but I think the peach works well here. It would have been a different story if it wasn't for the colorful cushion and the table lamp though. Importance of details.

Boya ile oluşturulmuş yatak başını beğendiniz mi? Aynı rengin takım yapılarak tekrarlanmasını normalde pek sevmem ama şeftali buraya yakışmış doğrusu. O renkli yastık ve başucu lambası olmasa görüşüm farklı olabilirdi. Detayların önemi!

The pastel blue, yellow and green in Rachel Whiting's photographs are so cheerful. I think chalk tones fit the spring mood perfectly, though I'm stuck on the couch with a blanket as I'm down with the flu. Thankfully I have Mildred Pierce and The Borgias to keep me company. Gotta love a good period show with film actors in it! I highly recommend both!

Sinema oyuncularının rol aldığı dönem dizileri çok tatmin edici oluyor, ikisini de şiddetle tavsiye ediyorum.

Why aren't there pegboards on every wall? They are so functional.

The half and half painted wall is gorgeous and the rug looks great with it. I love everything about this picture.

This reminds me of the house Sophie Dahl's cooking show; "The Delicious Miss Dahl" was filmed. By the way, I have tried a few of her recipes and they turned out divine.

Annaleena's Hem is such a great blog, and her own home is very sophisticated. She shares her DIY projects from time to time and I thought these two were very easy; instant gratification. Vase covered with rag stripes above, knit chair cover made from an old snood below. Also, how beautiful is her entryway seen in the background?

Annaleena's Hem çok beğendiğim bir blog, çok sofistike bulduğum kendi evinden kareler paylaşıyor genellikle, bazen de kendi yaptığı ufak projelerini. Bu iki projesi o kadar kolay ki yapmak anında tatmin sağlar. Üstte kumaş şeritleri ile kaplanmış vazo, altta ise eski bir atkı veya snood'dan yapılmış sandalye kılıfını görebilirsiniz. A wonderful porch. My two least favorite colors, orange and green, working great together. I have an urge to call this a breakfast room. Can you imagine having a room dedicated to having breakfast? Bliss!

Being exposed to them all my life I can't even look at kilims. But this entryway looks nice somehow. The beautiful coat hooks take the credit.

Did you know Turkey postponed moving the clock for a day because of a national exam date that was set for today months ago? They want the students to get a good nights sleep. Any system that has something to do with computers will go crazy, not to mention anyone involved in international trade. Thankfully I'll be home, merely observing digital doomsday.

Home Reno round 2 is going on in my home, and spring has failed to arrive. That means we are getting toxic fumes while our previously beige doors are being painted white, and we can't open a window without freezing. Looking at so many pretty pictures on blogs makes you think it's easy doesn't it? But even though I have a long way to go before it's "complete", I'm already liking the feeling of being home.

I love Muuto's "Rest" sofa by Anderssen & Voll. It doesn't look stiff like many other modern looking sofas. My sofa is very different but the picture has the exact look I'm aiming for:  basic and comfy. (Let's hope I achieve it!)

Tadilat round 2 evimde devam ededursun, bahar bir türlü gelemedi. Bu da kapılar bej'den beyaza boyanırken çıkan toksik kokulardan kurtulmak için cam açamadığımız anlamına geliyor. Bloglarda güzel resimlere bakmak insanı bu işin çok da zor olmadığı yanılgısına düşürüyor. Herşeyin "tamam" olmasına daha uzun bir yolum var ama şimdiden evde olmak bana mutluluk verir oldu.

Yukardaki resimde görülen Muuto'nun "Rest" kanepesini beğeniyorum, çoğu modern kanepenin aksine pofidik görünüyor. Benim kendi kanepem çok farklı ama resim hedeflediğim görünümü iyi yansıtıyor: sade ve rahat.

I came across these pictures above and below at two different places. Aren't the layouts nearly identical? It almost looks like it's one of those "one room, two looks" kind of features. Even the sofas made from pallets with wheels are similar. I like the large clock and animal pillows above, the wall lamp and the extended pallet used for stacking magazines below.

Not every house-for-sale has the privilege of having it's listing pictures styled by a stylist the calibre of Lotta Agaton. This lucky apartment is Lotta Agaton's own apartment in Stockholm, and it's for sale. Closing the deal on this apartment would be like winning the lottery, you certainly would not have to deal or live with the previous owners' odd choices. If the Wegner wishbones are included I'm definitely moving to Stockholm!

I am in awe of this blog, Likainen Parketti, written by Nena from Finland. She shares incredible photos from her own home, and I'm developing an inferiority complex, stylewise. Nena's blog very very beautiful and it is 1 year old today.

I also want to give my gratitude to all my readers from different countries around the world. When I check my blog stats, the first place I look is that huge map showing where my readers are from. I'm always so happy to see how someone from the other side of the planet and I are communicating somehow, sharing something, and I dream about how daily life must be like in that country. Thank you so much for fitting my blog in your daily routines, I am so grateful. You may not have heard but Blogspot had been banned in Turkey, my own country, do to a copyrights lawsuit of a TV company. It's not entirely censorship, but it is a huge violation of our rights. Thanks to you my blog traffic hasn't dramatically dropped like the blogs that only post in Turkish. I love you guys!

Hey there! I'm still knee deep in renovations, and my poor mother is staying with me helping me, or rather managing the whole ordeal. The whole apartment has been painted except the balconies and radiators, the color turned out horrible and two big rooms had to be repainted, the water-damaged and deeply scratched wooden floors have been fixed, sanded, stained and refinished, baseboards have been changed, and we have been exposed to highly toxic smells during all these processes. I posted photo on Twitter in case you want to see. I got not one, but two black rooms, and am in love with both of them. If this black loving thing is just a phase I'll be very sorry once it passes!

Merhaba! Hala tadilatla boğuşur durumdayım, yardıma gelip tüm işleri çekip çeviren zavallı anneciğimle salonda kamp yapıyoruz. Balkonlar ve radyatörler hariç bütün daire boyandı, hasarlı parkeler onarıldı, sistre yapıldı, rengi değiştirilip tekrar cilalandı, süpürgelikler değişti, ve bütün bu işlemler sırasında toksik kafa yapıcı kokulara maruz kaldık, geceleri garip kabuslar gördük :) Merak ederseniz Twitter'da paylaştığım fotoğrafa bakabilirsiniz. Bir değil, iki duvarı (neredeyse) siyaha boyattım ve sonuç beni çok mutlu etti. Eğer bu siyah aşkı geçici bir hevesse geçtiğinde epey pişmanlık beni bekliyor demektir!

These beautiful photos are for people other than me; people whose homes aren't under renovation, whose stuff aren't stuffed in boxes, covered in plastic and a thick layer of dust. I'm psyched about finally taking the step to make my apartment my own (it used to be my parents'), but it gets worse before it gets better, right? Right?? I considered taking before shots but after I took down the pictures on the walls, the soot stains were just too horrible to be documented. Even with the dust and the plastic, I'm so relieved to have given a lot of the excess stuff away. Clothes, technologically challenged computers, furniture (including my bed, which is why I'm non-sleeping on the couch right now), books (though I still own a life supply of books, most of them previously belonging to me parents and my grandfather) are now happy in their new homes and I'm enjoying the open space and have no intention to fill it back. I'm still shocked about how stuff can be accumulated over the years; this experience has really taught me the importance of spring cleaning! My laptop is jealous of the apartment and wants to start fresh too, making my life miserable in the meantime. Expect updates to be scarce.

Yer yer dökülen ve ailemin eşyaları ile dolu evimi kendime ait hale getirmek için nihayet kolları sıvadığımdan dolayı çok heyecanlıyım. Ailecek seferberlik halinde işe koyulmuş durumdayız. Önce/sonra karşılaştırması yapmak için "önce" fotoğrafları çekeyim dedim ama yatak odamın duvarındaki resimleri sökünce karşılaştığım is dikdörtgenleri (yoksa utanç kareleri mi demeliyim?) beni deklanşöre basmaktan alıkoydu. Badana boya güzel ama beni en çok rahatlatan evdeki fazla eşyayı ayıklamak, vermek, atmak oldu. Eşyalar yeni evlerinde mutlu, ben de kendi boş evimde. Bu satırları da yatağımı dahi vermiş olduğum için uyuyamadığım koltuktan yazıyorum. Pılı pırtı, mobilyalar, kitaplar (gerçi halen ömür boyu yetecek kadar kitabım var ailemden kalan), dergiler, teknolojinin gerisinde kalmış elektronikler, daha neler neler gitti. Oh be! Bahar temizliğinin anlam ve önemine bilahare değineceğim. Bu arada ev hediyesi geleneği kalksın artık, zevkime uymayan bir sürü atsan atılmaz satsan satılmaz objeyi ne yapacağımı şaşırdım. Ev hediyesiyle geleni kapıdan çevirme kararı aldım. Herkes birbirine çikolata götürsün, zira şu uğraşlar sırasında enerji ve mutluluk ihtiyacım için ne kadar çikolata yediğimi bir ben biliyorum bir Allah biliyor. 


Laptop'ım da temiz bir sayfa açmak istiyor sanırım, durumu kritik. Gözleriniz reader'larda kalmasın, post imkanlarım çok kısıtlı.
