The other children's room that I love, despite not being/having a child, is the one you can see above from this loft. I know this photo isn't new, I'm posting it for the sake of archiving.

I think this is the room of the second lucky child that lives in that loft. Is that a bakelite radio?

Of course I couldn't help but share this pink Smeg that has the power to make a harsh stainless steel kitchen look like raspberry cake. The rest of the loft is nice too, just not my cup of tea. You can check it out here.

I have a simple, dark wood rectangular table in my bedroom. It has no real purpose there so I decided to have a marble top cut for it and put it in the kitchen. My table has simpler lines than this one and a matte finish, but the color is very similar. I hope I can find a nice glossy white mable with elegant gray veins, in Istanbul carrera isn't as well known, or if they have a different name for it I don't know it yet.

Yatak odamda sade, ahşap dikdörtgen bir masa var. Orada bir işe yaramadığı için üzerine mermer kestirip mutfak masası yapmaya karar verdim. Benim masamın çizgileri resimdekinden daha düz, cilası da mat, ama rengi neredeyse bununla aynı. Umarım masam için parlak beyaz, zarif gri damarlı bir mermer bulabilirim. Anna Sui's kitchen is wonderfully goth. The backdrop of the sink, the ceiling lamp, the cabinets (note that the upper and lower cabinets don't match) and how they're modernized with the subway tiles is spectacular. You can see the rest of her house here; the other rooms are slightly (or overly) goth as well, a bit too much for my taste, but she does patterned wallpaper very well.

I SO love looking at adorable kitchen photos but it is a masochistic exercise as I hate how my kitchen sucks compared to them. Unless I completely tear it down and rebuild it, this kind of cuteness is off limits (the first picture I mean). And I wouldn't do that my dears; tearing down a perfectly functional kitchen for esthetic purposes only isn't a very eco-friendly act.

Dear readers, I'm desperately into the raw wood thing. I wanna reclaim me some wood. But despite the long hours I keep at the shore waiting for it to "drift" to me, and also despite digging some nearby rubbles, and despite keeping an eye on the neighbours' garbage, I can't find any wood to reclaim. We don't have any old barns nearby with wooden flooring waiting for me to tear off. I am considering buying new lumber and throwing it at our yard and leave it to rot for a couple of years. Would that work?? Is there a way to achieve this look?

View into Kitchen following renovation work. The metal cabinets, manufactured by "St. Charles", have been repainted. The Owners painstakingly cleaned the interior brickwork to remove fifty years of accumulated grunge. Removing the overgrown evergreens on the exterior allows daylight to perforate the masonry wall.

Kenig Residence - Interior Design

Kenig Residence, interior design by Slade Architecture, located in Brooklyn, New York, USA.

The program of spaces was organized by floor. The basement was finished to become a casual family den-type room with a pool table and couches, etc. The ground floor level was opened up to become a loft-like living room and kitchen with an exterior wood deck floating outside, over the backyard. The second floor became the girls’ floor with bedrooms, a study, kid-lounge and bath. Bachelor retreat was the idea of the third and top floor, with a home office, bedroom and bath.

In the kitchen, the color palette is focused on black and silver. Countertops are Absolute Black granite with a laminate on upper cabinets and island that features an abstract aluminum pattern on a black background. Mid level cabinets and security doors are aluminum sheet, with a custom pattern of circles and ovals that creates an optical illusion that the sheet is bowed out when in fact it is entirely flat. The pattern was designed by Slade Architecture and water jet cut into the panel.

College roommates and colleagues Thad Hayes (an interior designer) and Doug Reed (a landscape architect) collaborated on this sleek, modern home in rural Massachusetts, designed by architect Maryann Thompson. The kitchen, by Poggenpohl, is part of a hallway that runs through the residence. “There’s a spatial ambiguity that I love,” says Thompson. “Cooking and living and eating come together in a very fluid way.”

A warren of separate spaces in this 70’s home has been redesigned to embrace cooking, casual dining, entertainment, reading and relaxation in one harmonious space. Custom, renewable-sourced bamboo cabinets and locally made Cheng Geocrete concrete counters harmoniously combine responsible design in an earthy, tranquil environment. The elliptical food prep island features a trough sink and gently curved cabinet doors. The original red brick fireplace and hearth was re-clad using a cold-rolled steel firebox surround and shelves and a Geocrete site cast hearth.
