This shade of blue got me screaming like Samantha Jones. It's shape is almost identical to my favorite sofa, and it's in my current favorite color. When we recently went to buy a sofa for the new house, we wanted to get the Ikea Karlstad in Korndal Blue, as seen in this post of Hidden in France. Our current sofa, armchair and footstool are all off-white, almost identical to the ones in the above picture. We meant to combine those with the new blue sofa but unfortunately they didn't have it anymore. We got another color and don't regret it, it is SO comfortable.

We have new wooden dining chairs for the kitchen and are on the hunt for cute cushions, and the style above is exactly what we had in mind, only we want patterned instead of solid. I SO love looking at adorable kitchen photos but it is a masochistic exercise as I hate how my kitchen sucks compared to them. Unless I completely tear it down and rebuild it, this kind of cuteness is off limits (the first picture I mean). And I wouldn't do that my dears; tearing down a perfectly functional kitchen for esthetic purposes only isn't a very eco-friendly act.

I just love the blue velvet sofa, and how the other colors pop on it. Velvet is considered to be a winter fabric but here it looks cool and fresh. The style of the sofa is begging to be upholstered with a rich shade of velvet. As much as I have a thing for velvet sofas and armchairs, not all colors look good on velvet. Fuchsia, turquoise, and other vibrant or jewel tones look great. You have to be careful about balancing it with fresher, simpler accessories and other items, that is unless you're into the Baby Phat / Juicy Couture /rhinestone tracksuit kitsch look. That look; I associate with Regina's mom in Mean Girls. Most greens look like mold, which probably isn't a look you would go for.

Saç modelinin fotoğrafını çek, blog'a koy (istersen yüzünü maskele). Gittiğin kuaför, orada (varsa) tercih ettiğin eleman, kuaförün ortalama fiyatı, memnun olup olmadığın - bunları yaz. Memnuniyet için en büyük kıstaslar: 1- Senin istediğini tutturabiliyor mu, 2- Kesimden birkaç ay sonra saçların hala şekle şemale giriyor mu. Bu mim kuaför bulmakta sıkıntı çeken kızlara bir rehber olsun.

Utana sıkıla açıklıyorum, geçen yıl Ağustos ayından beri kuaföre gitmedim. Yani benim kuaförüm tabiat ana! Saçımda boya yok. Uzunluğu neredeyse belime gelecek, hafif katlı. Fönümü de kendim çekiyorum. O yüzden resim koymamın bir manası yok. Arayı bu kadar açmadan önce 6 ayda bir gittiğim kuaför Suadiye Park Toni & Guy'daki Cem'di. Boya + kesim + fön 200 lira kadar tutuyor, arada cilaya gidersen bazen para almıyordu. Cep telefonumdan gösterdiğim minicik resimden bile ne renk istediğimi şıp diye anlıyor ve tam o tonu tutturuyordu, kesimi de 6 ay idare ettiğine göre son derece iyiydi, ve her zaman tam hayal ettiğim gibiydi. Çoğu kuaförün aksine sinirime dokunan ve saçıma b.k atan bir kişiliği de yoktu, aksine "saçların çok güzel, boyamasak mı" dediği bile olurdu. Fakat Cem'in benim hayatta gidemeyeceğim Beykoz tarafında bir yere tayini çıktı. Oradan kötü saçla çıkan görmedim, standartları gerçekten çok iyi ama ben Suadiye Park'takine gitmeye şu an cesaret edemiyorum çünkü duyduğum kadarıyla Toni & Guy'da benim ödediğimin iki-üç katına kadar çok uçuk rakamlar çıkabiliyor. Zaten bu yüzden kuaför arayışlarındayım. Açılırsa Makas'ı denemeyi düşünüyorum.

Love all the color gradation in this room -- sky blue, powder blue, turquoise, teal -- and the unexpected shot of color from the floor is fabulous. And the dresser! And that throw pillow on the left! And, and! Oh, Martha.

Walls are painted Vintage Map; trim is Chamois Cloth; floor is Anjou Pear, all by Martha Stewart Paint. The knobs and detailing on the dresser are painted Vintage Map to match the walls.

I realize this look is overly "styled" because of the duck egg color being consistent from the chairs to the candles and jar lids. I still can't help but love it. Lesson of the day: very dark wood + duck egg + creamy white = good. By the way, calling these kinds of colors "green" is my pet peeve. They're blue, alright??

Bu odada biraz fazla "styling" yapılmış olduğunun farkındayım, çünkü aynı mavi tonu ("duck egg" veya "nil yeşili") sandalyelerden mumlara, kavanoz kapaklarına kadar heryerde kullanılmış. Well, dreaming on. As you can see, a crisp white beach house is what I'm longing for today. If you look at the pictures closely, you can see that this is a very easy-to-achieve look. White boards and a variety of blue-on-white prints are all you need, as less is definitely more with this look. Avoid over-accessorizing, I'd say. You could however throw in a few baskets (to create the effect of rope!), lanterns, some terracotta pots, enamel mugs, and white or cream ceramics. Large white candles would look too, even better if they're melted a little bit. If you want to add color, stay away from the usual red accent, and opt for grass green or aqua.

I'm one of those people who see painting wood as a form of murder, and I can only tolerate this act if the natural wood color is actually hideous or dated. And when that occurs, that first thing that comes to my mind is painting that piece of furniture white. Nothing like a fresh white page right? Well, that was until my recent Fruits of Singledom post. Because since then I've been obsessed with that royal blue dresser in the background in this room:
